• On July 24, 2026, Mayor Adanech Abiebie, in partnership with People for People (Menschen für Menschen), officially launched the construction of Ethiopia’s first-of-its-kind Smart Polytechnic College. Once completed, the college will offer youth hands-on, modern training in manufacturing, automotive engineering, electronics, textiles, and CNC technologies—empowering them to transition from job seekers to entrepreneurs. Emphasizing that a skilled workforce combining practical ability and technical knowledge is crucial to driving national prosperity, Mayor Adanech pledged strict oversight to ensure the project is completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
