- Beyond restoring the natural condition of the rivers, the project is a vital undertaking that enhances residents' quality of life, elevates the beauty of Addis Ababa, advances the city's status as a tourist destination, and boosts economic activity.

- Spanning an area of 351 hectares and a length of 10 kilometers, this stretch from Kechene through Ambassador and Irreecha to Bambis incorporates various modern infrastructures and public amenities.

- During the inauguration, Mayor Adanech Abiebie stated that developing while preserving nature, utilizing the city's limited land resources for public benefit, and making the fruits of development accessible to all remain the guiding principles of the city administration.

2. On October 29, 2026, the conversion of city buses from fuel to natural gas was officially launched in Addis Ababa in the presence of H.E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).

- Representing a major historic step for Ethiopia, this concrete technological transition helps reduce transportation costs and air pollution, save citizens' time, and properly utilize domestic resources.

- In addition to importing 400 new natural gas-powered buses in the near future, Mayor Adanech Abiebie stated on her social media page that the process of achieving tangible results through local capacity and modern technology will continue to strengthen.

3. October 31, 2026, marks the day Addis Ababa was announced as the winner of the Shanghai Global Development Award for Sustainable Cities (Shanghai Award).

- Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced that this recognition is a source of immense pride not only for Addis Ababa but for all of Ethiopia.

- Jointly organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and China, this prestigious international Shanghai Award has been presented annually since 2023 to five cities that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in sustainable, inclusive, human-centered, and resilient urban development.

- The continuous accolades being earned by Addis Ababa demonstrate the successful outcomes of its urban development initiatives and highlight the city's growing global competitiveness.

- The Shanghai Award in particular shows that the effectiveness, sustainability, and community impact of the urban development work carried out during the reform years have achieved international acclaim.

4. On November 10, 2026, Mayor Adanech Abiebie handed over the Bole Shubu Ejersa Integrated Residential Village to local residents displaced by development.

- Built for the farmers of Bole Shubu Ejersa who were relocated from their farmland and residential areas for the development of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) University, the village includes—beyond housing—provisions designed to enhance their sources of income.

- This represents a human-centered development approach that preserves the social cohesion of the residents while transitioning them to a better living standard.

- Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mayor Adanech stated that the primary objective of urban development is not merely constructing infrastructure, but improving citizens' lives, safeguarding their rights and interests, and creating better living opportunities.
